, the audio-video store is a few meters away from the State Bank of Hyderabad, Koti. If you are one among the breed of film lovers who believe in having their own copies of favorites for future viewing, Supreme can be the paradise for you.
What you get -
Going floor-wise, the ground floor has a good collection of regional (Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada) movies and songs along with devotional VCDs, popular PC games, ‘How to Learn’ educational CDs, and Yoga VCDs. It also has blank CDs and DVDs in bulk, attractive CD cases and different kinds of ear-phones and head phones.
The first floor has a splendid categorical collection of all kinds of films, both national and international. Half of the available space is occupied by Moser Baer VCDs arranged in an alphabetical order. You can get all kinds of Hindi films, from classic to contemporary, and the rare to the popular ones stacked neatly in the racks with multiple copies. There are more than 200 films in the Moser Baer VCD collection. Neatly placed in one rack, is the new Platinum series which gives Bollywood classics at dirt cheap price of Rs. 99 followed by Moser Baer’s ‘Super DVDs’, a collection of three films at Rs. 45.
Classified in a library kind of manner, the store has separate racks for regional language films too. To name a few, there is a decent collection of Marathi, Bhojpuri, Oriya, Gujarati, Rajasthani and Punjabi VCDs. There is also a Bengali section which flaunts the classics of Satyajit Ray, Ritwik Ghatak and Mrinal Sen. The Hindi section has a fine blend of classic and contemporary art movies, from Shyam Benegal to Madhur Bhandarkar and you can also find a wide range of commercial masala flicks made in the last six decades.
On the same floor, there is also a fine collection of English and other foreign language movies (Korean, French, Spanish). There are excellent collections like UTV World Movies (Rs. 349), Paladore Classics (Rs 399), Shemaroo World Cinema (Rs 399) for the same. Thriller lovers would find all the Alfred Hitchcock movies in the Paladore collection. There are also other cost-effective offers for the popular award winning English films like X- Men, Terminator, the entire Bond, Rocky and the Cowboy series of Clint Eastwood with the Excel, Eagle and Sony VCDs and DVDs. There are other VCD offers in English movies from Rs. 69-199.
The second and the third floor are dedicated to music and audio with the second floor having the regional (Telugu) audio section, classical dances, vocal, Hindustani classical, Carnatic classical, folk and international music. On the third floor, they have cassettes, CDs, DVDs and MP3s of Hindi, Oriya, Rajasthani, Bhojpuri, Bengali, Assamese and Nepali music. They have also retained the legacy of audio cassettes in their wide collection of the same. In this floor you can get a discount on everything. This collection includes old combinations of Hindi film music, old melodies, old selections, instrumentals, karaoke, Hindi Qawalis, Ghazals, Sufi, devotional, comedy and other compilations like the SRK collection, A R Rahman’s signature collection etc along with pop albums and new arrivals.
Our verdict -
The music store with its extensive collection of films and music, along with its lucrative offers is a place worth visiting and spending a few bucks on choicest movies for the personal collection of film enthusiasts and mass-entertainment. The store has also got another outlet three shops away which is exclusively a video showroom. If you are going by your own vehicle, you might have to find a parking space on the busy and shops-packed-roads of Koti. Staff is impressive with regional section staff members knowing their collection well.
