What you see –
Our first visit to this boutique Raiment in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad was truly impressionable with attractive display of garments, their texture, cut and style. One can see a classy expression of Kalamkari on all fabrics - chiffons, cottons, silks, georgettes, silk cotton and knit.
What you get -
As the tagline goes Raiment
offers ‘sensible’ women’s clothing for all occasions and figures too. Ask Tahera the designer what sells the
most? All, is the prompt answer! Using vegetable dyes, attractive color combinations and unique expression of Indian art on modern canvas (like tunics, corduroy, dupattas etc) Raiment is undeniably clothing for all age groups.
Their USP would be the exquisite kurtis
with Kalamkari prints on the supple cotton that fit you as if they were made for you. The fabric sits on you well - clinging your figure where it needs and flowing down where it has to.
One can find both block prints and hand prints on fabrics like Mangalagiri cottons, silks, cotton silks etc. For those who have enough of Kalamkaris there are brocades, Banarasees, muls etc also. Not just kurtis, check out those exquisite hand painted sarees too, which range from casuals to cocktails to the most exotic wedding sarees.
For those who have enough of sarees or kurtis with traditional Indian look, Raiment offers Japanese and Mogul prints on tunics, salwar suits and short tops (western). They also have leggings, corduroys and dresses. Material can be procured and given for stitching. Their specialty is traditional motifs on trendy cuts.
Kalamkari kurtis start from Rs. 800 and hand painted sarees Rs. 2,000 onwards. Raiment takes part in all popular sales across the city.
Our verdict -
Workmanship and quality is seen in every piece at Raiment. Kurtis are a must-try. So are the hand painted sarees. What works is that their clothes fit all sizes. You could even buy fabric from here. Customer service is exceptional with Tahera herself taking out time to explain the intricacies of the fabric and its care to customers. Trial rooms are available. Parking space is adequate. Raiment is open even on Sundays.
