Nalli Silk Sarees,
Hyderabad - 500016
What you see - Located prominently on the Begumpet main road in Hyderabad, Nalli Silk has been a favorite saree shopping destination since generations. A riot of colors, this two-level store can spoil you for choice with its myriad variety. Courteous salesmen welcome you to the store and depending on your budget and taste, guide you to the appropriate sections. Done up very systematically, the store is divided into multiple counters on the basis of price range and fabric. What adds to the rustic feel of Nalli Silk is the mild sandalwood fragrance that envelopes you the moment you step inside.
What you get - Nalli is famous for its silk sarees for just the right reasons. The variety available here is simply mind-boggling. While the ground floor has the more expensive variety, for reasonably ranged stuff, you should head to the first floor.
Popular silk (Rs. 750 onwards) options available at Nalli include Chanderi, Kanchipuram, Benarasi, Maheshwari, Matka, Mysore and Kalyani. The weaves are superb and the motifs both traditional and contemporary. The bright contrasts give the stuff here a definite edge. Some silk sarees also have heavy appliquéd borders for better detailing. Available in contrasting bright colors, the bridal collection of silk sarees is very ornate. Most of the sarees come with blouse material.
More in sync with the trends today, the store also has light-weight crepe and chiffon sarees screaming for attention. While there are plenty of plain-ish ones (Rs. 850 onwards) with thin golden borders, there also are choicest of designs available with mukaish detailing, sequin patterns and threadwork motifs. The Bandhani section stands out as the brightest with its Lehariya designs enticing most shoppers.
Nalli also has an impressive collection of cotton sarees (Rs. 350 onwards) with weaves like Chettinadu, Belgaum, Kanchi, Venkatgiri, Coimbatore and Bengal being the most popular. Most of the cotton sarees have woven motifs or small prints. Not all of them come with blouse material.
In addition to sarees, Nalli has dress material available by the meter (Rs. 50 per meter onwards), pattu lehengas (Rs. 700 onwards) for small girls and kurta-pyjamas for adults as well as children and salwar-kurta dress material and blouse pieces for ladies. They also have borders which can be bought by meter and fixed on sarees.
A portion of the first floor is dedicated to home furnishing items such as rugs, Bombay Dyeing bed covers, jute and Kalamkari carpets and cushion filings.
You can also shop for Tirupati Vastram here.
Our verdict – Nalli Silk is a one-stop-shop for all your saree needs. The store indeed has something for all. The stock is a good mix of contemporary and traditional designs. The merchandise is very reasonably priced and the salespersons are extremely courteous. They happily drape you with the sarees you are interested in and get the finished merchandise (with fall) ready in a day’s time. Parking space is available.

too much show. They are more into selling everything elsee apart from authentic silk sarees. No colour guarantee. Irritating staff. low price silk sarees have synthetic material mixed in them.
