Rajvinder, Beauty specialist, Beauty Retreat, SecunderabadWith work pressure, crazy deadlines, complicated relationships and factors like pollution and air-conditioned offices taking a toll on your hair, it is very important that you nourish them and put an extra effort to enhance their quality. Rajvinder of Beauty Retreat Salon in Secunderabad, a hair stylist and cosmetologist gives simple tips to keep your tresses healthy while dealing with common problems like dandruff and hair fall.

Regular hair care
Owing to the weather conditions and water quality in Hyderabad, you should shampoo your hair every alternate day. Never apply shampoo directly onto your scalp. Always dilute the shampoo before application, suggests Rajvinder. For best results, use a shampoo that suits your specific hair type and gives results (luster, volume, straightening et al) as desired. A hot oil massage 15-20 minutes before you shampoo helps soften hair. Always follow shampoo with a conditioner application, two inches away from the scalp. Roots contain oil and don’t need additional conditioning. Rajvinder also suggests that you give blow drying a skip, if possible. If your hairstyle, however, calls for regular hair-dryer use, use cool setting as hot air can cause damage.

What’s in
Flicks are definitely in. Those cut in different angles of layering look even better. While poker straight hair look is on its way out, straight hair with ends rolled up look definitely glam. For color streaks, ash, honey and red are the colors to experiment with. For a global (full hair) application, violet, red and honey are quite in vogue.

Accessorize with
Ditch the bob-pin, says Rajvinder, as it causes hair breakage. Switch to tic-tacs which are available in all thinkable colors these days. Match them with your outfit to up your cool quotient. Replace hair clips with scrunchies, as the former also causes hair breakage. Wear smaller scrunchies to give your ponytail a better fall.

Keep it simple
Whenever possible, tie your hair in a bun as it helps manage frizzy ends. Also, while sleeping, tie your hair in a loose, high bun to prevent balding in the crown area. Never tie your hair too tight, to avoid hair loss. Shifting the parting also helps the hair in the parting area to grow.

Tame your mane
Hyderabad weather is definitely not pro-henna as it makes them dry and frizzy. So if you want to cover grey, coloring using professional hair products is a better idea. Go for a spa treatment (shampoo followed by application of serum, spa cream, steam and wash) at a salon twice a month. Trim your hair half to one inch every three months. Don’t go for split end removal very often, it just shortens your hair length. Instead, invest in a good quality conditioner and serum. Avoid leave on conditioners as they attract dust, recommends Rajvinder.

The natural way
Applying a mix of coconut and tea tree oil keeps dandruff at bay. A fine paste of fenugreek seeds soaked in water overnight also helps. Application of egg white on scalp as well as hair, betters the texture of hair.

Follow these easy tips and you will never again complain of messy, unmanageable hair.
